Get Software Ready
Ensure you’ve chosen and installed your design software (Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator) before the bootcamp officially begins.Â
Learn the Interface
Familiarize yourself with the key tools and sections of your design software. Navigate the workspace like a pro, understanding where everything is.
Learn the Basics
Build foundational SVG design skills through hands-on lessons and simple exercises. You'll learn the basic functions and tools you need to get started.
Interactive Skill Building
Practice key design techniques with interactive and fun exercises. These foundational tasks establish your skills and build confidence in using the software.
Learn to Export SVG Files
You'll create and export your own SVG file. Learn how to save and import SVG files into your cutting machine software (Cricut, Silhouette or any cutting machine that uses SVG files).
Prepare for Advanced Training
By the end of the bootcamp, you’ll be ready to take on more advanced SVG design challenges. This is just the beginning—continue your journey on your own or enroll in the SVG Design Academy to build even more expertise.
No prior design experience is required! This beginner-friendly bootcamp is designed to help you take the first steps in building a foundation for creating your very own SVG cut files from scratch.
Day 0 - Get your tech ready for the Bootcamp
Choose your design weapon of choice—Inkscape or Illustrator—and get it installed on your computer. We’ll guide you through setting up your design station and preparing for the missions ahead.
Day 1 - Software Interface Guided Tour
Today’s reconnaissance mission takes you deep into the heart of your software. Learn to navigate your design battlefield—explore the key tools, panels, and menus that will become your greatest assets.
Day 2 - Interactive Fun Guided Exercises
It’s drill time! Sharpen your skills with focused, hands-on tactical training. These foundational (and fun) exercises are designed to strengthen what you’ve learned so far, preparing you for the final mission on Day 3.
Day 3 - Design & Export Your First SVG File
You will complete your final mission on Day 3! Using all the skills you've learned so far, you'll design and export an SVG file that can be used in the cutting machine software of your choice, such as Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio.
What SVG Design Prep is NOT:
- Not overwhelming—I'll break everything down into simple, manageable steps, so you never feel lost.
- Not for every design program—this bootcamp focuses only on Inkscape and Illustrator.
- Not magic! You’ll need to put in the work and practice outside of the lessons to improve.
- Not an advanced or comprehensive course—this bootcamp is meant to help beginners get started with SVG design using Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator. If you are not a beginner, you may want to sit this one out and wait for SVG Design Academy.
- Not a tutorial on cutting machine software—though you'll learn how to export and import files, the focus is on design, not cutting machine operation.

I LOVE making pretty things, and I’m passionate about making crafting with Cricut and Silhouette EASY and accessible.

Join Live or Watch Later
While I encourage you to participate live during the 3 days to get the most out of the experience, don’t worry if you can’t! You’ll get lifetime access to all the training videos and materials, so you can watch them anytime, at your own pace.
Pop-up Community
During the event, you’ll have access to a pop-up community exclusively for bootcamp participants. This is where you can ask questions, get support, and connect with other bootcampers as you work through the lessons together.
Printable Workbook and Downloadable Files
Throughout the bootcamp, you’ll have access to downloadable design files and a printable workbook to help you follow along with the lessons. These resources will make it easy to complete the hands-on exercises and stay on track.
